Welcome to the Nurse's Office.

KD Nurse's Office 20-21
Hello! I shared the following information with students on the first day of school:

I’m Mrs. Stratmeyer, the school nurse. I want to remind you of some things to stay healthy. Get 8-9 hours of sleep each night and eat something for breakfast. Bring a bottle of water and refill it. Washing your hands is especially important. Using soap and water or hand sanitizer are both effective. You should wash your hands for at least 20 seconds especially before eating and after using the bathroom. Hand sanitizer is available in all classrooms, and at all school exit and entry doors. To wear a face mask safely, wash your hands before putting it on. Cover your mouth, nose, and chin. Avoid touching a face mask while wearing it. Change your mask if it gets dirty or wet. Wash hands before and after taking a face mask off. Remove it by the straps behind the head or ears without touching the front. Use your own face mask and do not share it with others.

There is a self-serve station outside the Nurse’s Office. You can find band-aids, lip ointment, saltine crackers, and boxes of Kleenex for the classroom. There is also a box to drop forms for the nurse in, and a basket for returning ice packs. If you need to see the nurse, do not stop between classes. Go to the next class and ask your teacher to contact the nurse. Many visits to the nurse are what I would call “healthy” visits. For example, this would be students who have muscle pain and might need ice or heat or medication OR a headache in which rest or medication is needed OR allergy symptoms in which eye drops or medication is needed. These are just a few examples of healthy visits. Occasionally, students begin to feel ill during the school day. We will be separating students who are making “healthy” visits from students who become ill upon entering the nurse’s office. Asking your teacher to contact the nurse will help us do that.

The Nurse’s Office will be closed daily during period 6 lunch and period 10. If something urgent comes up doing those periods, let your teacher know so we can help.
